Kaffeine Cafe Bar

Brand Concept

Packaging Design & Illustration

During my time as an intern at Grin, I was set a concept brief to design a brand identity for ‘Kaffeine’ an independent café bar in Brighton that brews their own coffee with flavour inspiration from the owners travels.

My approach focused on the travel element of the brief and through my research I discovered that coffee beans taste differently depending on where they’ve grown. This insight inspired three brand routes and coffee flavours. France, which has a strong and bitter taste. Columbia, which has a sweet and fruity flavour and Brazil which is smooth.

I took inspiration from travel and postal graphics for the brand visuals, and I created a unique colourway for each coffee flavour, inspired by the country’s associated colours. To expand on the individual flavour’s identities, I illustrated different foods that described how the coffee tastes. For example, Columbia’s coffee tastes sweet and fruity so I illustrated sweet tasting fruits such as berries and apples.
